Dave, a traveling comedian, and Jerry, an on-location professional photographer share their road stories in Part One and Two of this “Working on the Road Again” two-part podcast series.
On this episode of Workplace Story, we’ll hear from Dave, a traveling comic. He’ll tell us what it’s like to take road trips with fellow comedians, driving narrow, winding roads to gigs at far-off clubs in small towns. He has found ways to handle being sick on the road, how to deal with hecklers, and also how to gauge an audience. Tune in to Part Two for Jerry’s story.
Employment advice for others in these jobs and careers:
So, Dave continues to work part-time as a traveling comic and says it’s the best second job he’s ever had. His advice for other new comics is to take a class, or do some research about the craft, and then treat the work as a bottom-line, promote-yourself type of business.
