In this episode of Workplace Story, two customer service staff members working in Northern Nevada give their own accounts – circumstances comical or bizarre, a few frustrating, and even a couple of dark scenes. What advice do they have for people entering the wild world of customer service?
Employment advice for others in these jobs and careers:
Sam and Krysta eventually left their customer service jobs, but aren’t sorry for their time there because they grew out of the experiences. Sam’s advice to others in the field is not to let the more difficult customers harden you, and to look for when people are trying to be kind. Krysta does laugh about some of the situations later, but says it’s OK to ask someone not to yell at you. She tells others who work in retail to maybe just smile and wave goodbye to that challenging customer.
